We're Sam Grimaldi and Michael Verni. We grew up playing hockey together for the Chicago Blues in Bensenville and have been friends ever since. In 2024 we decided we wanted to build a business together and work over the summer. Power Play was the result.
There was more of a learning curve than either of us expected. We've gotten considerably faster since then, without getting any less thorough. We consider ourselves perfectionists.
We're also both using this to help pay for college. Somewhere along the way we fell in love with the process of owning and running something together.
If you're choosing between us and a large established company: we can almost guarantee we're cheaper, and you'd be supporting two local kids in college, for the same result. On top of that, our customer base is small enough that we actually get to know the people we work for. Some of them we still talk to throughout the year about things that have nothing to do with pressure washing. That's not something a company with a hundred customers a week can say.
How We Got Here
Michael's Mom's House
The first job was Michael's mom's house in Melrose Park. It took them all day. There was more of a learning curve than expected. They figured it out.
Melrose Park to Elk Grove
Work spread through Michael's neighborhood in Melrose Park, then out to Sam's neighborhood in Elk Grove Village. No ads. Just neighbors talking.
The Free Job That Changed Things
They did a free wash for a neighbor in Elk Grove who'd just had heart surgery. People noticed. Jobs in the area followed. That's still how it works.
First Commercial Job
A museum all the way down in Kankakee. It took two full days to wash the entire building. They came back the second day without complaining.
"Okay, This Is Actually Real"
The first job over $1,000. The moment they looked at each other and knew this wasn't just a summer gig. They've since traveled as far as Michigan City for lake house customers.

We're careful around every garden, flower bed, and plant on your property. We pre-wet plants before washing and rinse after. We know how much they matter to you.
Free Touch-Ups
If something doesn't look right when we're done, we come back and fix it. No charge. Customers are usually blown away by the results. If anything falls short, we make it right.
Chicagoland is Home
Sam grew up in Elk Grove Village. Michael grew up in Melrose Park. When you call Power Play, you're supporting two local guys building something real.
